A Full Life With Half A Heart

One of the big concerns from others when we were diagnosed with Sam's condition was that he would have little quality of life.  There were many things we were told that Sam would not be able to do.  What I want to share with you today is the some things that my little boy can do.  It is too easy to focus on symptoms and statistics when you have a child with a medical condition.  We choose not to focus on these things but focus on the promise that God gave Sam.  Sam will live and have life in abundance!  We claim this daily over Sam and I would encourage you to search God for a promise of your own and live it.  Start by reading God's word (the bible) and he will reveal your own special promise direct from his heart to yours.  And remember don't let go of his promise no matter what may come your way.

Don't all two year old boys like sitting on the sprinkler?

...People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4)

Hi Nicole,
I love the way you delve into God's Word and take His promises at face value, just as He intended. Sam's smiling face is proof that this attitude is honoured by God in your lives over and over.

PS I meant to comment when I read your recent post about his weight issues. We had the opposite scenario when our kids were babies - health workers told us to put our 7 month old on a diet because he topped the percentile chart, yet he'd never tasted solid food in his life; simply breastfed on demand. (And he's quite slender now)Sometimes I tend to think doctors and nurses base every individual on a prototype average and worry us unnecessarily when we don't quite fit, especially somebody with Sam's medical history. But if Sam is energetic and happy, surely that must speak volumes, regardless of his small stature and not being bothered with appetite.

From what I've seen on your blog, you're doing fantastic :)
Blessings,
Paula

Thanks Paula. I love walking hand in hand with God. We trust in his promises because we know He truly is our only hope. Now if only I could remember that all of the time :)

It's nice to hear that someone else has had 'weight issues' with their kids. My older don Jack has always been on the highest end of the percentile charts. While Sam is the complete opposite. I guess because Sam sees doctors more often than most, they tend to pick up on things more. God will grow this little boy up the way he intends, we just need to keep asking him. In just the last 2 days he has started eating little bits again and is starting to regain the weight he lost while sick.
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement.
Nicole
